After much speculation, Jennifer Saunders revealed there will be an Ab Fab movie – as soon as she can make herself sit down and put pen to paper.
“There isn’t [a movie] but there will be,” Jennifer told This Morning’s Holly Willoughby and Phillip Schofield today.
“I’m close to picking up a pen, that’ how close it is.”
The comedian added: “I don’t want to write it before Christmas, that would be silly.”
As well as the return of the hilarious sketch show, Jen has been keeping herself busy writing her autobiography – something she always vowed she wouldn’t do.
It’s a project that came about after being so impressed by sports presenter Clare Balding’s book, Jennifer explained.
“It’s all her fault, because I was think I would never write book, yet I read Clare Balding’s book and thought, ‘she’s managed to write a sort of funny book that’s quite touching, isn’t overly revealing and also entertaining.”
The book touches on all areas of the actress and comedian’s past, from her friendship with Dawn French - which didn’t exactly flourish on first meeting – right up to the pair becoming close pals, developing their comedy duo routine, and even getting matching tattoos.
“We used to spend the day making up an act, an old circus act was the first one... and when everyone else was watching telly we’d move the sofas back and make a performance floor and we would come in and perform and applaud ourselves!”
Jennifer also opened up on dealing with breast cancer –and why she’s looking on the positive side of what happened to her.
“I was very lucky... My boobs were so enormous to begin with and they could do the lumpectomy without having to do a mastectomy, but to do the lumpectomy they had to take enough flesh out round the lump, so my bosom would be smaller...
“[The surgeon said to me], ‘do you want the other one smaller?’ and I said, ‘so what, I would have one huge one and one small one?!’
