Transgender couple talk finding love and overcoming adversity

Jamie Eagle and Louis Davis might seem like any other young couple in love, excitedly awaiting their wedding day – but amazingly this brave pair are both planning to undergo sex changes before walking down the aisle.

Jamie was born a boy but has lived as a girl for the last four years, while Louis was born a girl, but has lived as a boy for the last four years.

The couple met when Louis decided to take the leap of announcing to his university friends that he was actually born a different sex and was undergoing gender reassignment surgery.

He sought help from a transgender girl called Jamie, to help him break the news after going through the process herself.

And when the pair locked eyes on each other, they immediately hit it off, with Louis describing their interaction as ‘love at first sight’.

“He just needed support and it was a big thing for him to come out to his class. I know how hard it is to come out to family and friends, Jamie explained.

Now Jamie and Louis are both awaiting gender reassignment surgery to allow them to complete their sex changes before saying ‘I do’.

It’s been a long process for both, and today they shared their story with This Morning, as well as advice on others who find themselves going through something similar.

“Don’t leave it forever, it will eat you up and your unhappiness will show in some way, whether it’s alcohol abuse, drug abuse, self-harm, depression, not working... It does take a toll on your life,” Louis said.

He added: “A lot of people are coming out much younger now because it’s more recognised.”
