Flamboyant singer Rylan Clark spiced up the X Factor stage during tonight’s performance show when he belted out a medley of classic Spice Girls hits.
The 24-year-old’s performance started with a video of Rylan skydiving from a plane before he was lowered onto the stage in a Union Jack suit.
Surrounded by backing dancers with Union Jacks painted on their chests, the singer pulled off some impressive dance moves that were sure to leave Spice Girls fans delighted.
The judges loved Rylan’s performance and couldn’t help but get off their chairs and dance around as Rylan well and truly spiced up their lives.
Louis Walsh loved the energy of the singer’s performance and said: “What a great medley. You are such a great showman. I loved it, You’re not the best singer in the competition but you never let us down and you’re always happy.
Tulisa also loved it and added: “Rylan, thank you. It’s like the closing ceremony of the Olympics all over again!
“That is why I saved you last week because everyone in this crew is enjoying themselves. Rylan, I see you, hold tight.”
Gary Barlow, who isn’t one of the singer’s biggest fans, surprised everyone when he said that on the subject of fun, Rylan’s performance was absolutely brilliant, but he ruined the praise by adding: “On the subject of vocals that was absolutely diabolical.”
Rylan’s mentor Nicole Scherzinger wasn’t taking Gary’s negativity lying down, however, and said: “I don’t know about y’all but I’m all about having fun tonight.
“That was a brilliant Spice explosion – you didn’t just spread love, you sprayed it all over that stage.”
Rylan was more than happy with all the positive comments and had some choice words for Gary, saying: “I love doing Rylan-style but Gary, I’ve been getting better each week. I’ve got a full body harness on and things digging in everywhere!”
The singer also said: “I’m just loving life. I’m staying true and I’ve loved it.”
Rylan has become one of the most controversial acts on this year’s X Factor.
He found himself in the sing-off during the first week of the Live Shows against Carolynne Poole, who was sent home after Louis refused to vote, sending the results to deadlock.
Gary was furious and stormed off the stage in protest, and as the weeks have gone by he has never enjoyed Rylan’s performances and has admitted to not being a big fan of the singer.
Rylan was in the bottom two again last week against Gary’s act Kye Sones after his mash-up of Madonna’s Hung Up and Abba’s Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! failed to impress the public.
However, he was saved once again as the results went to deadlock, and with Kye having received the least amount of votes, he was sent home while Rylan was saved for another week.
The singer is a huge Spice Girls fans and owns five copies of their film Spice World, but will his spicy performance tonight be enough to save him from going home during tomorrow’s results show? Tune into X Factor on STV and ITV tomorrow from 8pm to find out!
All the contestants’ performances will be available to download from iTunes after the sixth Live Show tonight (November 10).
You can save your favourite act by voting for them.
