X Factor: District3 reduce Nicole Scherzinger to tears

District3 are once again tipped to leave the competition this week but can they survive another week after their performance of Eric Clapton’s Tears In Heaven?

The trio, mentored by Louis Walsh – who looked after Westlife during their extremely successful career – are hoping that the public will once again pick up the phone and vote for them. Louis obviously borrowed a few stools from his former boy band and it worked. The boys stripped back their performance and delighted the judges.

Tulisa told them: “This is when I love you. This is my most favourite performance”

Gary Barlow was the only judge who wasn’t so sure about the boys, telling them: “Great vocally, great song choice”, but, well there’s always a but isn’t there as he felt it was “something that’s slightly dated”.

Nicole Scherzinger, who was in tears throughout the performance gushed: “I love that song. Beautiful harmonies, Good job.”

The trio’s mentor Louis Walsh was thrilled with District3’s performance and called the boys, “a brilliant vocal harmony group”.

The boy band were delighted with the judges’ comments but don’t want to be compared to Union J telling the audience and judges: “We’re different”.

The lads had to undergo a tense head-to-head, with GMD3, but they came through the sing-off with flying colours.

And last week the fresh-faced boy band were slammed by the judges for the wrong song choice with Taio Cruz’s Dynamite but after surviving a sing-off a couple of week’s ago, their public spared them the agony of another tense affair.

Will the boys still be about next week to continue their X Factor journey or will there be tears from District3 by the end of the weekend? Tune in on Sunday at 8pm on STV and ITV to find out.

All the contestants’ performances will be available to download from iTunes after the sixth Live Show tonight (November 10).

You can save your favourite act by voting for them.
