X Factor: Will Christopher Maloney still be standing tomorrow night?

The only remaining contestant in the Overs category is hoping his performance is enough to see him through to next week’s Live Show. In line with the Best of British theme he performed Elton John’s classic I’m Still Standing.

Intense rehearsals with mentor Gary Barlow didn’t seem to have any effect on the opinions of the other judges.

Surrounded by dancers the Scouser belted out the hit, but it wasn’t making any difference…

Nicole Scherzinger was straight to the point: “I liked the confidence, liked the performance”, but she still called the singer the “karaoke king”.

Louis Walsh was impressed with the song choice and told Christopher he was: “the karoke king”. I wonder where he got that from?

Tulisa, who’s never hidden her love for Christopher, told him straight: “I’m getting bored telling you I don’t like it”, although she did say he had a great voice but her worry was what kind of album he’d produce.

The singer’s mentor Gary Barlow was thrilled with Christopher’s performance and said: “You’ve had a massive week”, and continued he “completely nailed it.”

Christopher looked a bit uncomfortable throughout the judges’ comments and simply said he wanted to: “thank the British public that are voting for me.”

Christopher’s nerves almost put paid to his dreams, but he overcame them to win a place in Boot Camp.

Last week the 36-year-old sang Eric Carmen’s 1975 hit All By Myself and he got a mixed reaction from the judges.

Whatever the judges think, the former call centre worker is popular with the X Factor audience, but will he have done enough this week to make it to the final six? Tune in on Sunday at 8pm on STV and ITV to find out.

All the contestants’ performances will be available to download from iTunes after the sixth Live Show tonight (November 10).

You can save your favourite act by voting for them.
