The 23-year-old qualified lifeguard looked out of his comfort zone and worriedly told his family he was anxious about the audience liking him.
But we can safely say the handsome singer made more than his fair share of female fans during his rock inspired audition which suited his husky voice and rugged style.
The jittering hopeful blew the audience and judges away with his rendition of Kings of Leon’s hit single Use Somebody and judging by the panel’s comments they could use somebody like Jake to spice up the boys category.
The mummy’s boy was overwhelmed by the judge’s feedback and even (the dreaded) Scary Spice praised his performance.
She said: “It was a smashing audition and I liked it a lot”.
Cat got your tongue this week Mel B? Just after we’d gotten used to her talons and sharp tongue has the usually fiery Spice Girl finally been tamed?
Pop icon Gary Barlow continued with the compliments and described Jake as the complete package.
He said: “I thought that was great, I love your voice, I love your image, I thought it was a great song choice for your audition today. You were fantastic. Well done.”
Louis also credited Jakes audition describing his performance as “great” and the kind judge reassured the shy singer when he told him “people are really gonna like you.”
As ever it came to deliberation time and the judges put their heads together to decide on Jakes fate and he wasn't disappointed. After his audition went swimmingly he was rewarded with a sought after place at the X Factor Boot Camp.
Well done Jake, we look forward to seeing you during Boot Camp.
