Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen: There’s nothing bigger or sexier than opera

An ideal choice to be a critic on Popstar to Operastar due to his passion for opera, Laurence Llewelyn-Bowen thinks he’ll be harsh but fair.

“I’ll be honest with people.” Laurence adds “No matter how many screaming fans the pop stars have outside, what they’re singing is more famous than they are.”

The 44-year-old won’t be taking any prisoners; he expects the very best from the contestants and wants to see them shine.

He explained: “Because of my experience, I’ll be asking: how good is their performance visually? If they’re standing there with their eyes shut and their fingers in their ears like a folk singer, then I’ll be very cross. I want to see someone who can live up to what they’re singing and can really inhabit the music.”

The flamboyant TV presenter added “It’ll be whether these pop stars we know and love can go for gold in the music Olympics.”

Laurence is holding his head high with regards to the show and hopes it will be a huge success with the viewers. “I’m passionate about this project. For STV to make this classical music their primetime pearl on Friday night is unbelievably exciting.”

“Popstar to Operastar will be a spectacular watch on a Friday night. There is nothing bigger or sexier than opera. We’re giving STV viewers something incredibly glamorous to get them through the dark days of winter.”
