Benidorm star Crissy Rock isn't afraid to take on the strict jungle diet. In fact, the 53-year-old is rather looking forward to it!
She revealed: “I can’t wait to lose weight. I might come out as a size 12. I don’t mind at all. It is the best diet ever! I don’t mind feeling hungry as I know what it is like. I was hungry when my kids were little. I used to give them food first rather than myself.
“At the end of the day, we are only going to be hungry for three weeks. We are hungry by choice. For lots of people all over the world, they aren’t hungry by choice. We cannot moan.”
Everyone will probably be going hungry if she's made the camp chef though as she revealed: "I am not very good. I am rubbish. If they put me on cooking duties, they will be crying for all the cockroaches!”
The Ladybird, Ladybird actress admitted that she is ecstatic after landing her place in the jungle, comparing it to accepting an Oscar or winning Deal or No Deal.
“I am a big fan of the show,” she said. “I feel like I have already won by getting in. Anything else is a bonus."
Crissy was so determined to keep her place on the show a secret that she didn't even tell her own children until the very last minute. The only person she confided her secret in was her best friend Margi, who she'd love to come and meet her when she comes out of the jungle regardless whether she wins or loses. She said:
“We’ve been friends for 28 years and this is the most amazing chance to give her a gift of friendship and that’s just priceless. She is bowled over.”
A natural performer, the actress is keen to become the campfire entertainment for fellow celebrities and said: "I am a bubbly person who laughs a lot and I will probably get on people’s nerves from time to time as I do get on my own!"
However, even thought she's happy to play the fool, she won't let people walk all over her either and revealed:
“I will stand up to people – but in a nice way. I will stand back and stay a bit placid at first. I will watch others make their role and I will try and think before I act. Obviously this could all go t*ts up when I get in there!"
Crissy isn't scared of sacrificing her comforts for the jungle. Having been through an abusive marriage, bankruptcy and homelessness, she feels she's hard enough to deal with the challenge and said:
“I don’t see myself as an A-list celebrity and so I will be interested to see how others respond to being stripped of things. I am certainly not worried about roughing it. I have been homeless before. This will be luxury by comparison. Before it was a cardboard box. This time I will have a bed…!”`
