Jimmy first arrived in Emmerdale in February 2004. He moved to the village with his father Tom and brother Carl before his younger brother Matthew joined them.
Born into money, Jimmy joined his father’s expanding business empire. But he’s regarded as too much of an opportunist and a bit dim when it comes to both life and business.
Jimmy was married to the very glamorous Sadie when he arrived in the village, but when he discovered she had continued to take the pill after they agreed to try for children, the marriage was on a slippery slope. It wasn’t until 2005 when Charity Tate seduced him and set him up to take revenge on her arch-enemy Sadie that his marriage collapsed.
After that, Jimmy managed to find love with Kelly Windsor, despite the rather sizeable age gap. At first, Kelly was simply trying to con Jimmy out of money so she could flee the village and set up a life for herself in London. Along the way, she fell in love with him, but when he discovered her plans, he was furious and told her to take the money and leave his life for good. But instead of getting into the taxi to leave, she headed to Home Farm and declared her love.
Jimmy then proposed to a delighted Kelly, but on their wedding day he discovered that she had been pregnant with his child and had a termination. She had also kissed Eli Dingle in a moment of weakness and it was captured on Debbie Dingle's mobile phone. The wedding turned into a disaster and Kelly left Emmerdale in her wedding dress.
Jimmy then embarked on a brief romance with Carrie Nicholls, his half-sister Scarlett's mother. But it was obvious that while she loved him, he wasn't yet over Kelly. Carrie's old flame Nick then showed up, made Carrie an offer she couldn't refuse and the two headed off to start a new life in Canada. Jimmy was on his own once again.
The King brothers were among the primary suspects in Tom's murder after he fell out of his bedroom window on Christmas Day, the day he was to be wed to Rosemary Sinclair. The lack of certainty about who was responsible ensured Tom's killer was never found. Matthew and Jimmy were horrified when they learned Carl was the killer, and relations between them were strained.
Jimmy got involved with Nicola Blackstock and the pair got married and had a baby together, Anjelica. Things turned sour for the pair, however, when Jimmy met up with Kelly in Peterborough and lost his memory after she knocked him unconscious when he refused to give her any money. Kelly took advantage of Jimmy's memory loss and claimed the pair had been having an affair, also introducing him to Elliot, her and Jimmy's son.
Managing to tempt Jimmy away from Nicola, Jimmy eventually found out the truth about Kelly and she left the village for good, taking Elliot with her. Nicola asked Jimmy for a divorce but the pair sorted out their differences and are now living happily together in Mill Cottage with Anjelica.
Nick Miles plays Jimmy King. He was born in Birmingham and has also appeared in The Bill and the film Gangs of New York.
