We caught up with the Dancing on Ice judges after last night’s nail-biting final and it’s safe to say they loved every minute of the show.
Robin Cousins said: “For me, having been here for seven series – the best final we’ve ever had.”
New judge Katarina Witt agreed: “It was such a great experience and such an exciting finale.”
Speaking of the fantastic final performances, Robin felt Matthew’s showcase skate summer up the spirit of Dancing on Ice, saying: “Matthew’s Singing in the Rain programme for me encapsulated everything that skating needs to be.”
Louie Spence added: “We all gave tens cause he deserved it.”
Katarina praised runner-up Jorgie Porter, saying: “Jorgie showed us what she has shown us throughout the twelve weeks, why we have liked her from the beginning, how much passion she puts into the skating, especially in her performance.”
Disaster struck for Chico Slimani when he deopped partner Jodeyne Higgins during a lift as he skated to Happy Days.
Robin said: “It’s obviously sad if somebody makes a mistake and Chico had a problem with the lift but he compensated… Yes it marred the overall performance, but it showed us what Chico is all about.”
Katarina Witt, along with rest of the female population, far preferred Chico’s second raunchy performance as he stripped to his waist to skate to LMFAO’s Sexy and I Know It.
She said: “Seeing Chico topless again I enjoyed it for his first performance and I enjoyed it again tonight, but he also gave a perfect performance and that’s why he got all the tens.” We believe you Katarina!
Louie gushed: “Matthew’s Don’t Stop Me Now - I loved it as much as I did the first time. Chico certainly was sexy and he certainly did know it and Jorgie did her slow and lyrical number which I always love.”
Chico was third, leaving Matthew and Jorgie to battle it out with the Bolero.
“The right two people skated Bolero, but Matt’s Bolero for me was probably the most difficult professional celebrity Bolero we’ve had since series one,” said Robin, before adding: “He was pushed to the limit but the right person won.”
It has been an action packed, fun-filled series of Dancing on Ice making for perfect Sunday night viewing.
Robin dubbed it “the best series so far,” saying “I loved having my two new co-stars and can’t wait to see them back next year.” Neither can we Robin, neither can we.
