Dancing on Ice finalist Jorgie Porter: her ice 'journey' revealed

There was something special about Jorgie Porter from the moment the Hollyoaks star stepped onto the ice.

As her pro-partner Matt Evers said, the petite blonde actress is fearless and like “a sponge”, desperate to take in every experience Dancing on Ice has afforded her, from trying gravity defying lifts to pulling on spandex and sequins every weekend.

In an exclusive interview with Matt
, the US hunk told stv.tv reporter Laura Boyd: “I think I have fallen in love with Jorgie, you heard it here first.

“She’s an incredible actress first and foremost, she’s an incredible person, not jaded by the industry by any means.

“What I love is she’s infectious but also she’s just this sponge she wants to soak this in so much and enjoy the ride.” And she’s certainly done just that…

On week one of the series, we saw Jorgie and Matt set the bar when they delivered an emotional, beautiful routine to Skinny Love. Jorgie scored an impressive 18.5 points and head judge Robin Cousins told her: "That was one of the strongest opening routines we have had on any series of Dancing On Ice.” Praise indeed.

Week three saw the couple return with a fun filled, sexy secretary skate to Dolly Parton’s Nine to Five, which also blew the judges away.

On week four, it was a battle of the soap stars as Emmerdale heartthrob (and Jorgie’s closest rival) Matthew Wolfenden took on Jorgie in the DOI Duel, complete with those memorable PVC outfits!

Week 5 allowed Jorgie to go top of the class with a poptastic routine to Britney Spears’ Baby One More Time.

In week six, Jorgie gained the highest score of the series so far, when she and Matt wowed with a breathtaking skate to Alicia Keys Fallin’.

Week seven and Jorgie turned up the energy with an ice melting routine to dance favourite Louder.

The 24-year-old’s week 8 performance was one of the most dramatic of the series after Jorgie accidentally kicked Matt’s face during the dress rehearsals when they were practising an extremely dangerous lift.

Despite being rushed to hospital, Matt returned in time for the show, complete with splint on his nose, and the pair performed a dramatic, gothic inspired skate to Evanescence’s Bring Me To Life – a complex routine which was praised by the judges.

Week 9 – everyone went crazy for Jorgie’s Beyonce skate to Crazy in Love but week 10 was her most difficult and controversial performance, as she ended up bottom of the judges’ leaderboard – much to the disgust of fans.

The star performed beautifully with a ribbon
on 'Props Week', skating to Lana Del Rey’s moving hit Video Games, but it failed to strike a chord with the judges and Louie Spence dubbed the skate “bland and boring”… and the public weren’t happy with the marks.

Thanks to the power of the voting viewers, Jorgie was put through and came back in the semi-final with two incredible skates – the first, a confident performance to Florence and the Machine’s Shake it Out and the second, a showcase of the skills she has mastered throughout her time on the show, with a near perfect routine in the Ultimate Skills test.

But the competition is tough this year on DOI and Jorgie ended up in the skate-off with fellow actress Jennifer Ellison.

Maintaining her admirably cheery disposition, she took to the ice with Matt and once again wowed with her routine, which saw the judges send her through to the final.

Can Jorgie triumph over Matthew Wolfenden and Chico to be crowned Ice Queen 2012? We’ll find out on Sunday when the Dancing on Ice 2012 final kicks off at 6.50… how exc-ice-ting!
