Lloyd Mullaney has been feeling quite lonely recently with his best mate Steve McDonald spending all his time with his new girlfriend Michelle, but it looks like things could be about to change when he bumps into old flame Mandy at a gig.
As the pair reconnect, Lloyd is keen to get close to Mandy again, but when she starts acting strange he realises something funny is going on. Turning up at Mandy’s house, Mandy’s daughter Jenna answers the door, and it’s not long before Lloyd works out that Jenna could be his daughter.
Craig Charles, who plays Lloyd, explained: “Lloyd finds out when Jenna was born and puts all the dates together and thinks there’s a good chance that this girl could be his daughter.
“He confronts Mandy and she has to concede that Jenna is his daughter, and he’s absolutely gobsmacked.
“He’s really happy that he’s a dad but he feels cheated for not knowing about his daughter and missing out on 28 years of her life.”
This is the first time in Coronation Street history that there has been a black family on the cobbles, and Craig is really happy with the storyline and cannot wait to see how it plays out.
“I think it’s brilliant Lloyd having a family, and now that the truth is out I think he’s gonna try and build a relationship with his daughter,” he said.
“And you never know what’s gonna happen with him and Mandy as well, so watch this space as it’s gonna be quite exciting!”
Coronation Street is on STV all this week at 7.30pm and 8.30pm on Monday and Friday and at 7.30pm on Wednesday.
