Stella Price has had a hard time over the last few months after finding out about her husband Karl’s affair with her best mate Sunita, and things are set to get even more complicated when her meddling mum Gloria turns up on the cobbles.
Gloria’s arrival comes out of the blue, and it soon becomes clear that she likes to involve herself in Stella’s life, which soon causes chaos for the street’s resident landlady.
Sue Johnston, who plays Gloria, explained: “Gloria is very critical of Stella. She gets straight involved with Stella’s love life and isn’t one to hang back with her opinions.
“She has a big soft spot for Karl and really wants it to work, so she plays a bit of devil’s advocate in that relationship.”
Gloria is also quite insensitive and loves winding other women up, and first to face her wrath is poor Rita as the pair clash over their mutual dislike of each other.
“Gloria believes that she says it how it is but I think that’s just an excuse,” Sue said. “She rubs people up the wrong way.
“I’m not sure how the fans will react to her. Some will like some of the stuff she comes out with and some won’t like the stuff she comes out with.
“I don’t know quite how she’s going to be perceived but it will make for quite interesting viewing!”
With Gloria struggling to tell Stella why she’s arrived on the cobbles and her inability to tell the truth, it looks like a whole heap of trouble could be coming Stella’s way over the next few weeks!
