Coronation Street star Chris Gascoyne has been discussing his upcoming break from the soap.
The actor, who plays Peter Barlow, is to take a six-month sabbatical from the Weatherfield drama.
It was announced in May that Chris and his co-star Alison King were taking a break from the soap.
Asked if he had planned the hiatus for long, Gascoyne told Digital Spy: "No, not really. Things just snowball on.
"You don't get a rest because there's no end to this show and when you have got big storyline after big storyline you get very tired and you're not really on top of your work.
"So much so I just needed a break to refresh myself and then come back and I'll be fine."
The father-of-three revealed that he will spend his time off with his family.
The 44-year-old said: "There'll be a bit of family time and just time to have a normal life really."
Gascoyne has played Peter Barlow since 2000, he left in 2007 briefly before returning a year later.
