While the nation celebrates the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, the residents of Coronation Street have been holding their own ‘unique’ street party, with a musical fancydress theme. They’re a classy bunch.

Simon Gregson liked that John Lennon look a little too much, while Jack P. Shepherd was clearly in his element as Sid Vicious.

Paula Lane loved sporting a beehive as Amy Winehouse, while Catherine Tyldesley’s take on Madonna sent temperatures soaring on the Street!

Lane Milligan, head of costume, explained: “When we do something like this, it’s important that it looks real and believable so it doesn’t look like Stars in Your Eyes.”

A favourite costume amongst the ladies seemed to be Ryan Thomas’ Elvis suit, with Catherine dubbing his bottom “peachy” in his tight fitting trousers. Ooh er.

It looks like a fantastic day was had by all and we’re sure the Queen would approve!
